It all started with Amalthea
Amalthea was half of my heart. She was the youngest of my other dogs. She was the soul of my family and a source of inspiration for starting Animal Art by Elena Magaña. She passed away in her sleep just two days after I finished her second portrait.
Painting her for fun a couple of years ago turned into a beautiful bond that inspired me to start painting more of my animals. She helped me heal my heart physically and emotionally. I am forever grateful and honored for being able to share my life with her. The connection we made can only be expressed through my art and her eyes.

Jimmy "the Apolo"
Nicknamed after my grandfather who used to wrestle, Jimmy "The Apolo" shared a huge part of my life and heart as well. He was the first great dane I ever rescued and I always admired his greatness and empowering presence.
He was a fighter and a loving company with a strong personality that always made me feel protected and cared for. I was honored to share a piece of my life with him.

I'm Elena Magaña
Mexican artist with a Master's in History of Art. I'm a colored pencil artist. I've always been passionate about art and deeply interested in spreading the word about animals' well-being.
My passion for art has been present since childhood, and it has grown into a lifelong devotion to creating beautiful and meaningful works of art.
I've been painting art for almost 3 years and my work focuses on capturing the loving bond between pets and their owners.
My technique of choice is colored pencils, to create stunning and lifelike pet portraits. Through my work I hope to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and spread the message of love and compassion for all creatures.
